Description:

This ASMBS session is designed for those who are either new to bariatric nutrition practice or looking for new ideas to refresh their program. Each section is designed to review current evidence-based recommendations and to provide tools that can be implemented in your practice today.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Assess physical malnutrition markers in the overweight/obese population
  2. Gather biochemical test results to identify potential nutrient deficiencies and inform nutrition diagnoses in order to provide supplementation recommendations
  3. Create educational material that takes into consideration client/patient choices, beliefs, food sensitivities, allergies, and accessibility and affordability of food for appropriate nutrition counseling
