Description:
This ASMBS session is developed to prepare individuals to handle unique challenges in their practice. The session will address inpatient and outpatient cases, such as coordinating care for parenteral feeding, post-op blood glucose irregularities, and culturally sensitive multidisciplinary care.
Learning Objectives:
- Recognize nutritional risk factors and/or causes for post-operative hypoglycemia
- Adjust plans of care in collaboration with clients/patients,RDNs or the interdisciplinary team to address cultural needs post-bariatric surgery
- Collaborate with multidiscplinary team to gather information that affects intake and nutrition status of various pre- and post-bariatric patients (e.g., cultural, ethnic, religious, lifestyle influences, psychosocial, and social determinants of health)
