Description:
Medical malpractice lawsuits can be frightening and stressful, especially for the young clinician being sued for the first time. This course will educate the participant on techniques to reduce the likelihood of being sued. It will also review the steps of the process from first finding out that you were going to be sued to the verdict at the completion of the trial. The session should be of great interest to clinicians at all levels of experience.

- To become familiar with the common reasons bariatric surgeons. are sued
- To understand the process once a lawsuit is initiated
- To appreciate the medical legal process outside the U.S.
- To learn practice behavior that reduces the likelihood of being sued.
