Description:

The Bariatric Endoscopy Lab is designed to give participants an opportunity to learn and practice skills that are relevant to primary endoscopic bariatric procedures and bariatric complications management. The aim of the course is to provide participants with an understanding of equipment and devices used to treat bariatric complications endoscopically, such as stricture, leak, and bleeding; learning basic endoscopic techniques for enteral feeding tube access, and learning basic techniques for gastric balloon placement and removal. The course will also provide participants with an extended introduction to endoscopic suturing devices for endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty and endoscopic anastomotic revision.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Participants will gain an understanding of equipment and devices used to treat bariatric complications endoscopically, including stenting, clipping and injection techniques.
  2. Participants will learn advanced techniques for managing bariatric complications including stricture, leak, and bleeding.
  3. Participants will be able to try basic techniques for gastric balloon placement and removal.
  4. Participants will be able to use endoscopic suturing devices for endoluminal treatment of obesity, as in endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty.
