Description:
This year’s access panel will focus on how to get patients approved using the new ASMBS/IFSO guidelines. After attending this session the member should have gained insight into how advocacy works. They will see toolkits created by members of ASMBS insurance and ATC committees for the new guidelines for surgery, learn how to approach medical directors, and be able to ask questions of their choice during a “ask the experts” panel discussion. They will learn the power of saying “yes” and how writing op ed pieces can be as impactful as literature in pub med.
Learning Objectives:
- Understand how advocacy works and why all members of ASMBS should care and become involved.
- Leave with an understanding of what it takes to make an impact through advocacy
- Establish contacts with leaders in advocacy to use once back home advocating for patients.
