Description:
This symposium will focus on bariatric surgical, medical and clinical challenges particularly geared toward advanced practice providers (PAs, NPs & CNS). The lecture series will include topics of Transgender bariatric patients, genetic testing in the bariatric population, H-pylori testing and treatment, Outpatient sleeve gastrectomy’s, bariatric and transplant surgery, and the GERD with upper gastrointestinal endoscopy position statement/guidelines.
Learning Objectives:
- To identify characteristics and strategies to begin a successful outpatient sleeve gastrectomy practice.
- To identify, discuss and treat H-pylori treatment for pre and post bariatric surgery patients.
- To identify and describe the benefits of genetic testing pre operatively in the bariatric patient population.
- To identify characteristics and strategies for candidates seeking bariatric transplant surgery.
