Description:

This symposium will focus on bariatric surgical, medical and clinical challenges particularly geared toward advanced practice providers (PAs, NPs & CNS). The lecture series will include topics of Transgender bariatric patients, genetic testing in the bariatric population, H-pylori testing and treatment, Outpatient sleeve gastrectomy’s, bariatric and transplant surgery, and the GERD with upper gastrointestinal endoscopy position statement/guidelines.

Learning Objectives:

  1. To identify characteristics and strategies to begin a successful outpatient sleeve gastrectomy practice.
  2. To identify, discuss and treat H-pylori treatment for pre and post bariatric surgery patients.
  3. To identify and describe the benefits of genetic testing pre operatively in the bariatric patient population.
  4. To identify characteristics and strategies for candidates seeking bariatric transplant surgery.
