Biography
Dr. Brandon Williams is a bariatric surgeon and the Program Director of the Advanced GI MIS and Bariatric Fellowship at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. He completed general surgery residency at Stanford University and a fellowship in advanced laparoscopic and bariatric surgery at Vanderbilt, joining the faculty following that. While at Stanford, he was the recipient of the Trauma and Critical Care Resident Award and the Kountz Humanitarian Award for his medical missions work in Haiti.He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and certified by the American Board of Surgery. He is a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS), the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). Dr. Williams is a past president of the Tennessee State Chapter of ASMBS. Within ASMBS, Dr. Williams is an MBSAQIP site surveyor and previously served as co-chair of the Access to Care Committee, a member of the Nominating Committee, and chair of the Scientific Paper Subcommittee of the Program Committee. He is also a member of the Fellowship Council and has served on the Accreditation, Membership, and Finance Committees.His academic interests involve surgical education and outcomes related to bariatric surgery.
