Biography

Madalene Drummond has been a nurse practitioner at the Vanderbilt Weight Loss Center in Nashville, TN for nearly 5 years. She initially started at the Center with a primary focus on medical weight loss. During this time, she developed a passion for the field of obesity medicine. She soon moved her focus towards caring for post-bariatric surgery patients and now specializes mostly in surgical weight loss. Prior to her career at Vanderbilt, she graduated from the University of Georgia with a BS in nutrition science and a minor in Spanish. She attended Vanderbilt University School of Nursing, graduating with her MSN in 2017 and her DNP in 2019. She is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner. Alongside her clinic responsibilities, Madalene acts as the APP Team Lead for the Center. In Fall 2021, she developed the curriculum for the Center’s APP fellowship program and hired the first fellow in January 2022. She is passionate about education, particularly surrounding the disease of obesity and the importance of treatment for this population and finds various ways to fulfill this interest. Madalene became a member of ASMBS in Fall 2021 and received the ASMBS Advanced Practice Provider Assessment Based Certificate in 2022.
