Biography
Dr. Adrian Dan is a practicing bariatric surgeon in Akron, Ohio. Following medical school at Northeast Ohio Medical University, he completed General Surgery Residency at Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan where his interest in metabolic and bariatric surgery began. In 2005-2006, Dr. Dan completed the Advanced Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgery fellowship at The Cleveland Clinic Foundation under the tutelage of Dr. Phillip Schauer and Dr. Bipan Chand. In 2006, Dr. Dan joined Summa Health System where he currently serves as Director of the Advanced GI MIS and Bariatric Surgery Fellowship program and Director of the Weight Management Institute.Dr. Dan has academic interests in the areas of bariatric clinical research and surgical education and was promoted to Associate Professor of Surgery with Northeast Ohio Medical University. He has founded and directs the National Surgery Review, an annual educational meeting for surgical trainees. He has published numerous book chapters and peer-reviewed articles and has served as the editor of the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery edition of the Surgical Clinics of North America in 2016. He is an active reviewer for SOARD, Obesity Surgery and JSLS. He enjoys serving on numerous Fellowship Council and ASMBS committees. Dr. Dan is co-chair of the ASMBS Bariatric Surgery Training committee, task force leader of the ASMBS FELLOW lecture series and the immediate past-president of the Ohio and Kentucky ASMBS Chapter.
