Biography

Dr. Tuesday F. A. Cook is a fellowship-trained Minimally Invasive, Foregut and Bariatric Surgeon. She is a Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation Quality Improvement Program Verified Surgeon, Board Certified by the American College of Surgeons. She received her medical degree from Howard University College of Medicine and afterward completed a general surgery residency at Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C. She subsequently completed a fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery at the Pennsylvania State University Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. She is Board certified in General Surgery and has served as a Clinical Instructor both in Pennsylvania and Maryland, teaching surgical residents and medical students from the United States and abroad. Annually, she welcomes both high school and college students to shadow her in the office and hospital. Dr. Cook has been practicing as a bariatric, minimally invasive and general surgeon since 2008, performing a variety of minimally invasive procedures including metabolic, gastrointestinal, abdominal wall and endocrine surgery. She has contributed to numerous journal articles, book chapters and society presentations. She is proud of her volunteerism and service. She actively participates in several committees with the ASMBS and she has worked with the White House COVID-19 Health Equity Task Force.She is President of the Montgomery County Medical Society, as well as an IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Empowerment, Advocacy) Task Force member and Legislative committee member for The Maryland State Medical Society. She has testified and lobbied for both patient and physician rights on Capitol Hill. She feels most passionate about her work with decreasing health disparities for people of color both locally and internationally.
