Biography

Shortly after completing my surgical training at Mayo Clinic Rochester, MN and in at MIMIS in Crosby, MN, I moved to Seattle, WA in 2004. I have focused my career on developing outpatient and same day bariatric surgery. I did the first same day sleeve gastrectomy in a free-standing ambulatory surgery center in 2008. I published several papers demonstrating the safety of sleeve gastrectomy and high acuity patients performed in the ambulatory surgery setting. Since 2008, we have done several thousand weight loss surgeries in the ASC with excellent outcomes. Outpatient surgery decreases cost, improves clients experience and can improve safety. Each of these have been barriers to patients receiving bariatric surgery. My goal has been to improve access to care for obesity treatment. With that goal in mind, I founded Transform Weight Loss, LLC in 2018 with the vision to transform lives with sustainable weight loss. We offer bariatric medicine, nutritional counseling, telemedicine, biometric testing and bariatric procedures.
